I have mixed feelings about this one. I grew up in a house that was built in 1906. My grandmother’s house was built in 1894. I love older houses. I think that much of the craftsmanship found in older homes is simply not found in newer homes due to the prohibitive cost. But, the author makes a persuasive argument about things like HVAC efficiency and safety advances in new construction.
RIP LIBOR. You were the most important number in the global financial system. Trillions of dollars in financial instruments were directly linked to you. You will certainly be missed. Maybe in time we will grow to love SOFR, or one of the other reference rates that seek to fill your shoes. You are gone, but never forgotten.

Everyone was stunned by the Colorado wildfires late last month. If you’re able, I encourage you to give to the Community Foundation of Boulder County for wildfire relief.
